Three kilometre and 500m up on Cobalt Lake Trail, you are at the scenic eponymous mountain lake; further up - 2km and almost 400m, more - is peak 5040 (at 1530m elev.). In this alpine, there are mountain views, with glimpses of the Pacific Ocean, and a light display of wildflowers. Located west of Port Alberni, BC, this was a 2 day backpack, with us overnighting at Cobalt Lake.
